Yes. The National Institute of Open Schooling is an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Its Secondary and Senior Secondary qualifications are recognized for further studies, subject to the eligibility requirements of the institution or course concerned.

Is NIOS Board Valid for NEET?

Yes. Studying Class 12 through NIOS does not by itself make a student ineligible for NEET UG. The National Medical Commission has clarified that studying through NIOS is allowed for appearing in NEET UG under GMER-23 regulations.

Students must still satisfy the applicable NEET eligibility requirements, including the prescribed qualifying subjects and other academic conditions.

NMC Clarification NMC's February 2025 clarification stated that studying through NIOS is permitted for NEET UG. It also clarified that an additional subject may be studied through NIOS when the applicable conditions are satisfied.
